Project 18: Paper P.R.I.S.M.
(Paper Processing Integration of Smart Manufacturing)

Paper processing is the third most energy consuming industry in the United States. Our project is focused in optimizing the energy consumption in the drying chamber of the paper plant, since most of the energy consumed is in separating the water from the pulp with heat. The sensor system collects temperature and humidity information from the drying chamber, which is then processed by an Arduino Nano and sent over WiFi to a cloud database. Real time data and insights from machine learning are interactively displayed on the IBM Cognos dashboard. Our end goal is to create and structure the data so it can then be used in a machine learning platform.
