In South Africa, there has been an everlasting feud between farmers and elephants. This is due to elephants wandering onto existing farmlands, which can destroy crops, and even injure animals or humans. Because of this, elephant populations throughout South Africa have been decreasing. The Wall of Sound is an idea and product that focuses on manipulating scattered sound waves into a focused beam. Ideally, a person would not realize that the sound beam existed until they crossed into the small, concentrated path of sound. The Wall of Sound will emit a focused beam of noise straight ahead, which will create a “fence-like” boundary that will deter the elephants.
