Project 14: Rolling in the Data

In nuclear power plants, motors have to be monitored for safety purposes. Our device will allow technicians to monitor these motors without the risk of radiation exposure in the field. The project’s goal is to take 8 analog signals that represent current and voltage values, process the signals, and store them for later retrieval by a technician. To do this, the signals will pass through the analog front end to be conditioned for the ADC. The signals must be sampled at 12k samples per second by the ADC and must have a 16-bit resolution for precision. They are then stored as 2-byte integers on a µSD card to be analyzed at a Windows computer when needed.
