Project 15: The Particle Contact Tracers – Thermoelectric Cloud Chamber

The Thermoelectric Cloud Chamber demonstrates particle physics to a target audience of grade school students and science museum visitors. The device strives to spark an interest in STEM for the next generation. School systems and museums will have access to this technology at an affordable price without sacrificing quality. Observers will not be put at risk during operation as safety is carefully considered in the device’s construction. Peltier units allow the device to reach the necessary temperature of -26C to view alpha and beta particles coming from radioactive material placed on the copper viewing plate. The temperature and humidity of the chamber are displayed, providing observers with a fuller understanding of how the device works.
